  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring (gel)
  • Whipped cream
  • Maple syrup
  • Chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, vegetable oil or melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually combine with dry ingredients.
  3. Divide batter; mix red food coloring into half of it. Alternate pouring red and chocolate batters onto a preheated waffle iron.
  4. Cook according to manufacturer instructions (usually 3-5 minutes) until golden brown.
