Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted pistachios, chopped
  • 5 oz kunafa (knafeh) noodles
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, divided
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Melt half the butter and combine with kunafa noodles until coated. Press half into the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, melt remaining butter; mix with sugar and cocoa powder until smooth. Add eggs one at a time and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Pour brownie batter over the kunafa base and sprinkle remaining kunafa on top.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until edges are set but center remains soft. Let cool slightly before serving.
