- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Warm the milk and sprinkle yeast with a teaspoon of sugar; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
- In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, cardamom, and salt. Create a well in the center; add melted butter and eggs.
- Mix until combined, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread melted butter on top, and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
- Roll tightly from one edge and slice into 12 pieces; place in a greased baking dish.
- Cover again to rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
