  • Custard Sauce: 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and remaining sugar until fluffy; add eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with milk. Fold in chopped apples.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown; check doneness with a toothpick.
  6. For the custard sauce, combine milk, sugar, and whisked eggs in a saucepan over low heat; stir until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
