  • 1/2 lb pork sausage
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes (preferably San Marzano)
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté onions, carrots, and celery until softened (5–7 minutes).
  2. Add ground beef and pork sausage; cook until browned (about 10 minutes), breaking up the meat.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and crushed tomatoes; reduce heat to low and let simmer.
  4. Pour in red wine; simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  5. Add milk or cream along with dried herbs; simmer on low for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving over pasta or using in lasagna.
